This session discusses two initiatives for translating from Arabic and providing easy access to comprehensive information about Arabic literature translation.

The "LEILA" project aims to present the best of Arabic literature as chosen by a group of experts familiar with the current publishing scene and who understand the literary qualities that could make books merit translation for international readership.

"Al-Daleel" (Index) is a bibliography of Arabic literature translated into foreign languages. It is the world's first online index of translated Arabic literature, with records from the pre-Islamic era to the present. Al-Daleel offers extensive data on Arabic translations, as well as related information, including publishers, translators, authors, literary events, and news, as well as resources and continuously updated translation metrics.
